We're conveniently located towards the border of Highland Park and Howick, and we have one of the largest ranges of recreation programmes you'll find in Auckland. Whether you want to play sport, work out, do a group fitness class or take part in a casual game of basketball, it's likely Howick Leisure Centre is the place to do it.
A feature of our centre is its dedicated martial arts room — so good that seven different community martial arts groups use it.
We're also known for our amazing school holiday programmes.
Want to play sport casually? We welcome you to basketball, volleyball, badminton and table tennis for all ages.

Group fitness classes
Group fitness classes get you off the couch and interacting with our community. They also harness the group's energy to create a motivating, challenging, and totally addictive workout experience.
They're a great way to change things up and make the most of your workout!
Play your role
Keep everyone safe and healthy with good hygiene practice - here are a few friendly reminders of the basics:
- Bring your water bottle and towel - No towel = No workout!
- Bring your mat to any floor-based classes (e.g. yoga, Oxycore, Abs, etc.)
- Cover your coughs and sneezes (into your elbow or with tissues and dispose of these into the bin immediately)
- Wash your hands frequently
- Wipe equipment you have used - while our staff clean regularly, we need your help too (we have wipes and spray for you to use)
- Shower before you swim or jump into an aqua class (helps us keep our pools clean)
- And, stay home if you are unwell - play it safe!

- Book into group fitness classes related to your membership up to a week in advance.
- You'll be notified of any class cancellations by email.
- You'll receive confirmation of a booked class in a form of an admission ticket.

A low impact class for older adults with limited mobility. Ideal for those who may have slipped, tripped or fallen in the last year. Participants may require the use of a walking aid. Seated options available.

A 30-minute bodyweight training system that gets results!! It's a functional and effective metabolic workout that will change the way you train.

Focus on your core with the core principles of Pilates! The eight principles of the Pilates technique – concentration, breath, centering, control, precision, movement, isolation and routine – are brought together to give you a low impact workout that strengthens like nothing else.

Yoga your mind and yoga your body. This workout can range from gentle and slow-moving to dynamic, but it always tones, shapes and centres the mind without impact or stress.

Conveniently located within the Howick Leisure Centre, we create an environment that's comfortable, warm, homely and inviting. We have a great outdoor area for our children to let loose in!
Our Get Set Go programme gives tamariki the opportunity to develop their physical skills, like catching, rolling, throwing and jumping. It helps them discover what their bodies are capable of and teaches them how to work individually, in pairs or groups.

We are open Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 5.30pm.
We are closed on weekends and public holidays.
Numbers of children
We are licensed to care for 50 children, with a maximum of 15 under two years old and 35 over two years old.
Teacher to child ratios
We have a minimum of one teacher for every four children under two years old and a minimum of one teacher for every eight children over two years old.

About our programme
Give your children an active, safe and fun holiday break by enrolling them in a Howick Leisure Centre holiday programme.
Our structured programme for 5 to 13-year olds includes:
- games galore
- our own take on My Kitchen Rulez
- super sports days
- dress up days
- trips to mini-golf, Stardome, ten-pin bowling or the movies
- much more!
Hours
The programme runs from 8am to 5pm.
Complimentary before and after-programme care is available from 7.30am to 8am and from 5pm to 6pm.

Parties are held in the stadium on the 3rd Sunday of each month (subject to availability). We run three time slots on that Sunday of each month.

- 11.30am - 1.15pm

During the party
You will be looked after by two of our excellent staff members who will run the party whilst the parents can sit back and enjoy watching their kids having a blast!
Your party structure can be as follows:
- 5-10mins, Children arrive, and introductions
- 30mins, Games (party or sports) - These will be age-appropriate
- 30mins, Free play on the equipment. Bouncy castle is included!
- 30mins, Food and cake time
- 5-10mins, Finish and wrap up
Please note, that the above plan is only a suggestion and can be changed to suit your party.
Birthday party package prices
Price includes two staff members, set up and pack down of equipment including the bouncy castle and prizes for games.
Prices are based on 30 children. Any additional children will be charged at $5 per child.

Regular hirer discount
We offer a 20 per cent discount off the standard hourly rate to regular hirers.
Regular hirers are individuals or organisations who hire a venue we manage 10 times or more over the calendar year (1 January to 31 December)
Community group discount
We offer a 30 per cent discount to community groups.
For groups that meet certain criteria, community groups can get 30 per cent off the standard hourly rate.
These discounts can be stackable using reverse compounding methodology and cannot be added together. Maximum discount of 55 per cent.
