Auckland Council is proud to offer free swimming for all children aged 16 and under at our pools across the region.* This initiative is part of our commitment to community wellbeing, water safety, and making recreation accessible to all Auckland families.

Why free swimming matters
Swimming is a vital life skill, especially in a city surrounded by water. By removing financial barriers, Auckland Council is helping children and young people build water confidence, stay active, and enjoy safe aquatic fun.

Safe use of our pools - important things you need to know
- To keep our precious tamariki safe we have a Pool Supervision Policy, which specifies minimum adult-to-child ratios. Please ensure when you visit us your group follows these ratios.
- Adults supervising children 4 years and under must be in the water to supervise, pay a maximum of $2
- Adults supervising children aged between 5-10 must be available to provide immediate assistance, pay a maximum of $2
- Supervision wristbands will be issued on arrival at reception so that your children are easily identified by our lifeguards.
- Caregivers of children 4 years and under must wear a wristband.
- All children aged 5-10 years and their supervising adult must wear a wristband.
- Children 3 years and under must wear a waterproof swimming nappy.
- To make sure that we are both inclusive and respectful we have guidelines around what to wear in the pool
