East Coast Bays centre updates

UPDATE: 11 February 2023

Our Centre will be operating as an Auckland Emergency Management Centre and will be closed for normal operations effective from 2pm Sunday 12 February.

All "normal" services will be closed from 2pm Sunday. Last entry into the facilities on Sunday will be 1pm.

  • All memberships will be automatically suspended from Monday 13 February until end of day Tuesday 14 February. Note: this may be extended if the site is required by AEM beyond Tuesday.
  • All bookings will be cancelled and staff will be in contact as soon as possible to discuss re-booking/ payments
  • All classes will be cancelled until end of day Tuesday- this includes Group Fitness

UPDATE: Tuesday 14 June 2022

Great news! Our group fitness classes will resume from 6am Thursday 16 June.

Check out our live timetable on myLEISURE for the most up-to-date timetable. Make sure you book yourself a spot and commit!

We will update our website with the full timetable before the end of the week.

The gym re-opening will be assessed tomorrow and we will let you know of the decision by tomorrow afternoon.

Thank you so much for your patience during this time. We are almost at the finish line!!


UPDATE: Tuesday 7 June 2022

The contractors are now sealing the last coat today and tomorrow! Yay! To allow the toxic fumes to completely evaporate, our whole centre will remain closed until Sunday 12 June, and we will re-open on Monday 13 June.

Your membership is still active as you have access to other sites. However, if you haven't been able to visit another centre and will not be able to this coming week, please check your emails and respond ASAP to our most recent email. Our team will send an email confirmation once the hold is completed.

With an active membership you can still visit any one of these centres:

Make sure to check their opening hours and let reception know you've come for a workout due to our closures.

UPDATE: Tuesday 31 May 2022

Our entire centre will now remain closed until Wednesday 8 June 2022 due to extremely high toxic levels from the sealant. Our teams will reassess on Tuesday 7 June and re-open on Wednesday only if it is safe to do so.

UPDATE: Monday 30 May 2022

Our whole centre will remain closed tomorrow, and the for the following dates below. We appreciate that this is short notice however, your health and safety is our number one priority!

Due to the high toxic levels from the sealant, we will need to close the entire centre during the below dates:

  • Monday 30 May
  • Tuesday 31 May
  • Monday 6 June
  • Tuesday 7 June

Due to the nature of the sealant, we will need to re-assess each day and close the centre again if needed outside of the above dates if toxic levels are too high. Please follow us on Facebook and keep an eye on our website before visiting.

Our centre will be closed while our Stadium sealant is being applied. Due to the toxic nature of the sealant, we will need to close the entire centre during the below dates, for health and safety reasons.

Full Centre closure dates:

  • Friday 27 May, Closed from 12pm
  • Saturday 28 May, Closed
  • Monday 30 May, Closed
  • Tuesday 31 May, Fitness Gym closed, Group Fitness OPEN as normal

Members can use either Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre or Albany Stadium Pool gym facilities during this time.

Stadium closed during the below dates:

Friday 6 May - Friday 10 June, the stadium is closed for renovations.

 

Improvements: Fresh paintwork, new flooring, Main Court refurbishments - Sports Leagues will play on new stadium flooring with less slip!

UPDATE: 13 April 2022

Moving to Orange

As per the Government's announcement, Auckland will be moving to the Orange setting of the COVID-19 Protection Framework from 11.59pm Wednesday 13 April 2022. 

Leisure centre facilities are open, including gyms, indoor recreation programmes, pools, splash pads, spa, sauna and steam rooms.

Face masks must still be worn by everyone aged 12 and over at public facilities, except around swimming pools or while exercising.

UPDATE: 4 April 2022

Vaccination Requirement Update

From midnight on 4 April 2022, there will be no requirement to use My Vaccine Pass at our pool and leisure centres.

Masks are still required indoors in our facilities except when exercising or on poolside.

We will continue to display our QR codes at reception/front door for those who would like to keep scanning, however, scanning is not mandatory.

UPDATE 28 February 2022

Unfortunately our teams have been affected by the spread of Omicron and a number of our staff members are needing to self-isolate to keep our community safe. Updates to programming and times are as follows:

  • All league programmes are postponed for two weeks
  • Operating hours for Wednesday 2 March - Friday 4 March are  6am-7:15pm

UPCOMING CLOSURES: We're bringing this Old Girl into the 21st Century!

Very exciting developments are coming to our building and we can't wait to share this with you!

⇒ CLOSURE DATES 

14 February - 29 March: Main entrance, Reception area, Kitchen, Kauri Kids

Improvements: New welcoming reception area for better interactions with our Customer Support staff, fresh paint work, new flooring, air curtain installation on main door, a new designated room for fitness consultations. 

18 April - 8 July: Main Hall, and Group Fitness 

Improvements: Fresh paint work, new flooring, Main Court refurbishments - Sports Leagues will play on new stadium flooring with less slip!  

⇒ ALTERNATIVE ENTRANCE AND NEW KAURI KIDS LOCATION

From 14 Feb to 29 March, please use the side entrance into the building. We will have signage to show you the way. Our Head Teacher will be in contact with all our Kauri Kids whānau this week with an alternative location.  

⇒ SCOPE OF WORK

As well as the above-mentioned work, here's what else will be getting a renewal (this work won't affect you):  

  • New electrical switchboards 
  • Staff room renovation (yay!) 
  • Replacement of hot water cylinders 
  • Installation of newly designed IT services 
  • Upgrading existing fire system with a new alarm

Auckland: Will move to RED in the COVID-19 Protection Framework from 11:59pm Sunday 23 January 2022

Vaccination Requirement: During RED and ORANGE, all customers aged 12 and over will be required to show their vaccine pass to staff upon entry. 

All pools and leisure centres will remain open during the RED setting of the Covid-19 protection framework.
  • Memberships and passes will remain active. If you wish to suspend your membership please create a myLEISURE account.
  • Please see how our centres are operating in RED.

All members, pass-holders, and swim school students should have received an email from us about our vaccination approach. It's important you read this and make sure you understand what our approach is. If you did not receive an email, please contact your local pool and leisure centre.

Auckland: Moving to Alert Level 3 Step 2.

Tāmaki Makaurau will move to Alert Level 3 Step 2 at 11.59 pm Tuesday 9 November 2021.
 
Our gyms and pools remain closed for now. We'll have further updates over the coming weeks.
All memberships and lessons remain on hold.
Outdoor Fitness Sessions: While our facilities are closed, some of our leisure centres are still delivering Outdoor Fitness Sessions for $10 each during Level 3. To see what classes are available near you, visit myLEISURE.
Facebook Live Group Fitness: We are also still running our FB Live Group Fitness classes in our members-only group. Join our Facebook Group here.

The government has made an in-principle decision to move Tāmaki Makaurau to Alert Level 3 Step 2 on Tuesday 9 November.

  • Memberships and lessons remain on hold until we reopen

Auckland: ALERT LEVEL 4 for next 7 days
Rest of New Zealand: ALERT LEVEL 4 for next 3 days

Following on from the Government announcement this evening, from 11.59pm tonight 17 August, all of New Zealand moves to Alert Level 4. The Alert Level will be reviewed after 3 days with the exception of Auckland Tāmaki Makaurau and the Coromandel Peninsula which will stay at Alert Level 4 for 7 days.
Our centre will be closed for a period of 7 days initially while we wait for further updates from the Government.

This includes:

- All programmes and bookings
- Group fitness classes
- Gym
- Kauri Kids ECE

If you have a membership with us, this will be automatically suspended until we can reopen again.

We will keep this page up-to-date with the latest information when we have it available. You can find the latest information on COVID-19 and the lockdown itself on the Ministry of Health's dedicated COVID-19 website.

GROUP FITNESS AUDITIONS: Saturday 12 June 12.30pm-3pm, at Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre

What to expect

  • Arrive early, you will receive a number that you are required to wear throughout the audition to assist with the selection process.
  • There will be a short information briefing on our programmes and what to expect when training as a Group Fitness Instructor.
  • You will need to participate in a selection of our group fitness classes - you will NOT be required to instruct as this audition.
  • As you participate, our panel of experts will be assessing your technique, energy, and X-factor!

From this audition, we will make a selection to take onto the next stage.

What to bring

  • Comfortable and appropriate clothing
  • Towel
  • Drink bottle
  • Any food you think you may need as the audition process could be up to 2-3 hours.

Auckland is back at Alert Level 1 effective from 12pm Friday 12 March 2021. This means that our centre will be back to our Level 1 standards from Saturday 13 March. While some Level 2 restrictions will be lifted from 12pm today, our staff will be working hard to get our centre back to our Level 1 standard for tomorrow.

- Recreation/Term programmes

If you have a membership with us, this will be automatically suspended until we can reopen again.

We will keep this page up-to-date with the latest information when we have it available, but for now please keep practicing good hygiene, social distancing, noting your whereabouts, wearing a mask, and getting tested if you have any symptoms.
