Skating has come a long way since the days of roller discos, today it's officially recognised as an aerobic sport and it's particularly good for the heart when completed at a moderate pace.

When compared to running, skating burns more calories with considerably less impact and stress on joints.

It's also great for improving your balance as you use your lower-back and abdominal muscles to roll back and forwards.
