Glenfield Pool and Leisure Centre has everything you need to get active your way. Four group fitness studios deliver over 100 group fitness classes — including Les Mills™ classes — each week. There’s a split-level gym and cardio studio, 25m lane pool, and state-of-the-art steam and saunas — little wonder that some world-class triathletes train with us!
For fun and learning there are three diving boards, a hydroslide and the 15m learn to swim pool. And we don’t just get active inside – come join our free outdoor community fitness programmes over the summer.
We also have an amazing in-house cafe called Third Wave Cafe serving delicious coffee and food to compliment your workout. Bring your friends for a catch up or bring your colleagues for meetings in our spacious and comfortable seating area. See hours below.

Young people across Auckland have free access to all council-owned pools. This initiative, for Aucklanders aged 16 years and under, means more of our region’s children and young people can be fit, healthy, and waterwise.*

Wristbands
Supervision wristbands will be issued on arrival at reception so that your child/ren are easily identified by our lifeguards.
- Caregiver of children 4 years and under must wear a wristband.
- All children aged 5-10 years and their supervising adult must wear a wristband.
- Learn to Swim students aged 10 and under wanting to swim before or after lessons will also need to wear a wristband.
Things to know before you come to the pool
- To keep our precious tamariki safe we have a pool supervision policy, which specifies minimum adult-to-child ratios.
- To make sure that we are both inclusive and respectful we have guidelines around what to wear in the pool.

We can instruct swimmers of any age and ability, from 6-month-old babies to adults.

- We really care about teaching water safety. All our students are taught key water safety skills first, then progress to mastering swimming skills.

Which class is right for me or my child?

If you are new to Learn to Swim lessons, you will be a beginner in your age group.
If you have had lessons before or time has lapsed since your last lesson, we recommend you get an assessment. An assessment can be booked through the link below.
How to enrol in swimming lessons
If you know what class to enrol in, come into the centre and have a chat with our friendly staff at reception or sign up online using the button below.
If you are unsure what class to enrol in, we highly recommend booking into a free assessment or contact the centre.
School holiday learn to swim courses
Holiday swim courses run over five consecutive half days (four if there is a public holiday) from Monday to Friday. Courses may be in the morning or the afternoon. We take enrolments for complete courses only.
If your child is a bit stuck on an element of their swimming, by coming every day for five days they'll normally crack it. Conquer that learning to breathe, breaststroke, or butterfly!

Swimming lessons and water safety for schools
We’re experienced and skilled at working with schools, tailoring programmes to schools’ needs and the age and stage of their students:

Group fitness classes
Group fitness classes get you off the couch and interacting with our community. They also harness the group's energy to create a motivating, challenging, and totally addictive workout experience.
They're a great way to change things up and make the most of your workout!
Play your role
Keep everyone safe and healthy with good hygiene practice - here are a few friendly reminders of the basics:
- Bring your water bottle and towel - No towel = No workout!
- Bring your mat to any floor-based classes (e.g. yoga, Oxycore, Abs, etc.)
- Cover your coughs and sneezes (into your elbow or with tissues and dispose of these into the bin immediately)
- Wash your hands frequently
- Wipe equipment you have used - while our staff clean regularly, we need your help too (we have wipes and spray for you to use)
- Shower before you swim or jump into an aqua class (helps us keep our pools clean)
- And, stay home if you are unwell - play it safe!

Water polo
We are proud to be home to one of the longest established, non-club associated water polo leagues in Auckland. We have a team of knowledgeable, fun and passionate coaches, and currently train both beginner and more experienced intermediate school teams. The competition runs all year round, with additional trainings provided by the centre.

Whether you’re into serious competition or just want a social game, our squash courts provide the perfect setting to get into it! With four courts available during opening hours every day, you can play whenever it suits you.

A Term pass will mean that the swimmer is eligible for any and all of the sessions that occur throughout the specified term! For example, during an 11-week term you have the opportunity to attend up to 33 sessions!

Our Intermediate league runs all year round with available weekly trainings for both beginner and more experienced teams. Specifically, Glenfield offers an extensive range of developmental opportunities for not only our league but our players as well; including, trainings, swim for polo and game nights; all alongside some other extracurricular training sessions. Our goal has always been to provide a league that is founded and builds upon a passionate community of water polo players, coaches and families. We are open Monday to Friday 8.45am to 3pm, with two sessions:
- a morning session from 8.45am to 12:45pm
- an afternoon session from 12.45pm to 2.45pm
Or we have an all-day session from 8.45am to 2.45pm.
We are closed on weekends and public holidays.
Numbers of children
We're licensed to care for 10 children under two years old and 20 children over two years old.
Teacher to child ratios
We have a minimum of one teacher for every four children under two years old and a minimum of one teacher for every eight children over two years old.

Regular hirer discount
We offer a 20 per cent discount off the standard hourly rate to regular hirers.
Regular hirers are individuals or organisations who hire a venue we manage 10 times or more over the calendar year (1 January to 31 December)
Community group discount
We offer a 30 per cent discount to community groups.
For groups that meet certain criteria, community groups can get 30 per cent off the standard hourly rate.
These discounts can be stackable using reverse compounding methodology and cannot be added together. Maximum discount of 55 per cent
